Anger
When some of those cutting, sharp, blighting words have been spoken which send the hot, indignant blood to the face and head, if those whom they are addressed keep silence, look on with awe, for a mighty work is going on within them, and the spirit of evil, or their guardian angel, is very near to them in that hour. During that pause they have made a step towards Heaven or towards hell, and an item has been scored in the book which the Day of Judgment shall see open.
- Emerson
Wise Anger is like the fire from the flint; there is a great ado to bring it out; and when it does come, it is out again immediately.
- Quote by M. Henry
I will tell you what to hate. Hate hypocrisy, hate cant, hate intolerance, oppression, and injustice; hate pharisaic; hate them as Christ hated them- with a deep, living, godlike hatred.
- F. W. Robertson
Temper
If religion has done nothing for your temper, it has done nothing for your soul.
- Clayton
Self Poison
Bad temper is its own scourge. Few things are bitterer than to feel bitter. A man’s venom poisons himself more than his victim.
- Charles Buxton
