Three Great Principles In Life
Reflections on Life
There are three great principles in life which weave its warp and woof, apparently incompatible with each other, yet they harmonize and in their blending create this strange life of ours. The first is, our fate is in our own hands, and our blessedness and misery the exact result of our own acts. The second is, "There is a divinity that shapes our ends, rough-hew them how we will." The third is, "The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong; but time and chance happeneth to them all." Accident, human will, the shaping will of Deity, - these things make up life.
- Frederick W. Robertson
There are three things
in the world that
deserve no mercy, hypocrisy,
fraud, and tyranny.

By three methods we may learn wisdom:
first, by reflection, which is noblest;
second, by imitation, which is easiest;
and third, by experience,
which is the most bitter.
- Quote by Confucius
It is the eternal struggle between these two principles -
right and wrong. They are the two principles that have
stood face to face from the beginning of time and will
ever continue to struggle. It is the same spirit that says,
"You work and toil and earn bread, and I'll eat it."
- Quote by Abraham Lincoln
Many of life's circumstances are created
by three basic choices: the disciplines
you choose to keep, the people you choose
to be with; and, the laws you choose to obey.
