While on my lonely couch I lie,
How sweet to feel its helpless form
And glances then may meet my eyes
To feel my hand so kindly prest,
But then to wake and find it flown,
A heart whence warm affections flow,
Our dreams drench us in senses,
I'll do my dreaming with my eyes wide open,
Whatever you do, or dream you can,
